The Running Man from OTR Escape 11/2/1952
Any digital history book, or Wikipedia for that matter (UNIVAC), will highlight the 1952 presidential election and its use of the UNIVAC I Mainframe computer to tabulate votes and predict the outcome, but during an intermission of Old Time Radio program Escape's episode The Running Man, it was noted, with awe, that it could tabulate faster than any man.
It is kind of exciting that this episode aired election night and conveyed some computer excitement that was already present in the early 1950s.
A great show.
A glimpse of 1952's popular view of computers.
Perhaps the spark to ignite a lifetime of OTR (Old Time Radio) enjoyment.
