This article offers a pretty grim forecast for their survival. They have always been my favorite species of bear, though, as of late, after the confluence of going vegan and documentaries becoming more brutally graphic in their depictions of nature, I have been much less able to enjoy and appreciate their beauty.

I still deeply admire them.

The Dreamster (Geekbabe) and I are planning some sort of ecofriendly tour this summer. Not sure where, but, since we are kind of recalcitrant and sluggish about travel, we will probably stick to the northeast or flights/train rides/car jaunts of limited distance and duration.

Maybe something as nearby as the Jersey Shore. Maybe Connecticut, maybe Maine.

This site may help us in our deciding, since I will have a super waterproof all mineral-based sunblock for the journey and will thus be able to galavant at any time of day or night.

Looking for midnight in the slopy, slidy hillside. Seeing dawn! The beautiful but deadly sun is not there and then, poof, it is there and daylight is upon us night beings. ;)
